    「正確には把握していないけれど、500万 ～ 600万点の現像された写真と、コンタクトシート、35mm や 5×7インチのネガフィルムが 30万袋 （全部で少なくとも 1000万コマにおよぶ）があり、さらに 13,500枚の DVD （1枚あたり約 4.7GBの画像が入ってる） があるよ。MoMA が 1996年に Timesアーカイブから選定した作品を展示しようとしたとき、MoMAから派遣された 4人の学芸員と 2人の NYTimes 編集者で、9ヶ月にわたり 3,000 を超える項目を熱心に調べたけど、結局全体の 1/4 くらいしか見られてないと思う。もし、10枚の写真を毎平日 Tumblr で公開していったとしても、3935年まで続けられるだけの点数になる。」

    ということで、どれだけ膨大な量かがわかるわけですが、これを Tumblr で毎週公開していくと。そうして巨大なアーカイブを少しづつデジタル化し、将来に渡るオンラインでの利便性とアクセス性を保証すると述べられています。

    で、さらに興味深いのは、写真と一緒に各プリント裏面の画像も公開してくれていること。紙面に載った際のキャプションから写真エージェンシーの名前、さらに手数料まで記載されていて、その写真の裏側にあるストーリーを垣間見ることができます。
